Easier to Get Work Visa in US?

1:17 pm on Monday, September 12, 2011

Nurses may have an easier time getting a VISA in the USA after the House passed a bill that will stop nurses from working only for one hospital upon arrival.

“A nonimmigrant alien…who was previously issued a visa or otherwise provided nonimmigrant status…is authorized to accept new employment performing services as a registered nurse…upon the filing by the prospective employer of a new petition on behalf of such nonimmigrant.”

Nurse of the Year

Cool!

But what I do’nt get is why it’s a huge production to win in ‘foreign land’? If you up and leave then don’t pretend you’re somehow going back. Some of us do, but if you’re escaping looking for better times and better pay, then you’re pretty much adopting a new country and it’s no longer ‘foreign’ but merely ‘nurse of the year in your hometown’. It just irks me to see a winner celebrating being a ‘foreigner’ …..
